The Change Manager must periodically capture metrics agreed for assessing the performance of Change Management. These
reviews would help to identify the issues in the process being followed currently. The outcome of the reviews should be
communicated to the Engagement Manager and all relevant stakeholders.
Examples of measurements that can be used to govern Change Management include:
-
Count of Change Request Received (standard/normal/emergency)
-
Open Changes (Backlog)
-
Effort variance
-
Schedule variance
-
Financial variance
-
Defect Distribution
-
Defect density in production etc.
Change Management Report must provide an overview of the performance of Change Management. The actual performance
levels should be compared against agreed levels. Change Management Report should also convey how the changes are
progressing compared to the plans and highlight concerns, if any, with respect to schedule, cost etc. Actions and
improvements must also be reported for those changes which show variance.
During the engagement, the scope of the change requests may undergo changes. This could have impact on the change
forecasts and initially planned budgets. The Change Manager should report about these changes to the Engagement
Manager, who can report the financial consequences to relevant stakeholders.
